I would literally see the red marks for where it would correct the dust spots off to the side and adjacent to the dust instead of over the dust spots. For example, as good as the iSRD dust and scratch removal tool is when it works, it will miss the mark for the dust spots on some of my slides.
SilverFast also recommended watching all their videos and they are ok for simpler operations but don't go into much if any detail and about the "Expert Dialog" tools which I have had to largely figure out on my own. I've looked at those EJ, but they seem cursory at best, and hence my comments about SilverFast's written documentation being inadequate. Now that I've corrected my scanning to be 16 bit per channel (SilverFast 48 bit) the scans look even better at 3600 ppi in 16 bit than the 8 bit scans at 7200 ppi - not a great surprise.įor as good as some of the tools in SilverFast Ai are (like their iSRD dust and scratch removal tool), I really wish they had better written documentation of their software. In SilverFast 16 bit is called 48 bit (16 bit X 3 color channels), but they don't explain that.

The SilverFast software is just a bit confusing and has IMO an extra learning curve since there is only minimal written documentation about it's tools. A 3600ppi scan at 16 bit yields a 92-95 MB file. I thought I was scanning in 16bit when in fact it was only 8bit.
